〈北海道の春の日〉
14年前の今日、2011年4月20日。日陰にまだ雪が残る糠平湖の湖底に降り、タウシュベツ川橋梁を撮っていた。
空には薄い雲がかかり、橋の下をタウシュベツ川が音を立てて流れる。カラフルなものは何一つ目に入らない。白とグレーと、土色だけの光景。これが北海道の春なのだ。

北海道内の郵便局で販売されています。

Fourteen years ago today, on April 20, 2011, I walked down to the lakebed of Lake Nukabira, where patches of snow still lingered in the shade, to photograph the Taushubetsu Bridge.
A thin layer of clouds hung in the sky, and the Taushubetsu River flowed under the bridge with a steady sound. There wasn’t a single burst of color in sight – just white, gray, and earthy tones. This, I realized, is how spring in Hokkaido can often look.
